ABOUT KIKUKO USUYAMA
Based in New York since 1997, she has been contributing to numerous magazine editorials
such as BRUTUS, SPUR, HugE, ku:nel, marie claire Japan, etc.
While working in a commercial field, she has been pursuing her art documentary projects.
The best-known work might be Inu-Dojo, composed of a series of dog pictures taken
in NY as if there were a real fight, awarded by Canon New Cosmos of Photography (2002 Japan).
Also featured by Vice (2002 USA) and relax magazine (2003 Japan), its publicity led her to
photo shoot the advertising campaign for Laforet Harajuku Grand Bazaar 2004 winter
(AD: Kenjiro Sano).
Recently started documenting an 83-year-old shaman living near her hometown.
You can see a part of shaman story on the innovative web magazine PB (http://point.bccks.jp), where
she also explores fashion photographs combined with movie-like concepts.
